Meet Our Studs

Our Studs:

rio

Rio, our golden doodle stud, gets his size from his poodle sire, Rusty, from Tropico Kennels, but he is not just large.  He is smart, obedient, gentle and always willing to please.  He is also an excellent sire to his large families of F2 puppies.  He is attentive and playful with the pups, and dotes on Aspen, their mother.

His American Platinum Retriever dam, Kiki, from Southern Cal Kennels (previously Tropico Kennels,) gave his wonderful towhead undercoat and gorgeous plumed tail.  His handsome outercoat curls come from his sire Rusty, named for his vibrant red coat.

We are proud to announce that Rio has successfully passed his OFA testing proving that he is genetically sound to pass on his blood lines.

aspen

Aspen, is an excellent breeder and mother.  She is very attentive to her pups and they thrive on her rich milk.  When she is not tending a new litter she loves to play in the water, swimming and fetching flotsam in our stream.  She is a keen tracker and water retriever just like her retriever dam, Meadow, out of  Southern Cal Kennels (previously Tropico Kennels,)

Aspen is also smart, hypoallergenic and non-shedding like her poodle sire, Cream Soda, also from Tropico Kennel.

Meet Our Girls

Our Girls:

maggie

Maggie is our princess.  A full blooded chocolate poodle from Colorado, she has taken seriously her job of rearing pups and teaching them to stay within the property limits.  She is a perfect lady and expects her puppy charges to behave in a gentile and civilized manner.

Two beautiful girls are waiting for their time to be mothers.  Phoebe's chocolate pups are due in mid-January 2009  and Gracie's mini doodle pups will arrive in March. Both F1 Golden doodles, Gracie and Phoebe have strong retriever characteristics and will give us striking  pups with even more hypoallergenic qualities by being bred to champion, pedigreed poodles.

gracie_phoebe

Gracie and Phoebe, who were named for native birds of New Mexico, are excellent breeders and mothers.  Gracie has a toasty golden smoothe coat with a blonde chest ruff.  She is very affectionate and easy to train.  Phoebe's coat is more red and curlier.  She loves her obedience training and has a keen sense for trackings.

We have F1b pups born  August 23, 2010. Five boys and 2 girls all black with white markings on chest and paws.  Likely to turn silver by 4 weeks. Blonde F1 pups arrived on Aug. 26, 2010: 3 girls and 2 boys, platinum blonde and one red.  Call us at 575-751-0191 to visit Taos Dood Ranch.

As the Obama's were deciding on a puppy we sent them a letter regarding our pups. Although they ended up chosing a Portuguese water dog, Michelle Obama was kind enough to reespond.
